Writing in role

On the 13th of December we wrote a diary entry as our characters. To get us in role we lay down, closed our eyes and imagines our characters lives outside of the play, what there room looked like, what they liked to eat etc. We then wrote our diary entry from when we got home after the events of the play, as I am playing Adam I wrote my feelings on my first night in the forest. Below is what I wrote, re-reading it makes it sound a bit cheesy but at the time, when I was in character its what I felt like so hear it is:

I just wanted some friends, I thought maybe if I impresses them and went along with what they wanted to do then they would accept me. I'm so sorry mum. I did bad things, I was just so lonely, I didn't know what else to do, I love you mum, I love you dad, I love you both. I love you lot to; Chris Susie, Liam, Anna. I'm cold, it's dark, I'm scared, I'm dying, I'm dead. They killed me.

Workshop 4 28th of November

Last week we auditioned for parts in D.N.A. We auditioned in a workshop format, we picked which characters we wanted and played a scene as them. I read in for Brian and Adam. I chose those characters because I though they would be interesting as they are both insane! With characters like them I felt I could really have fun with the way they deliver lines. I really enjoyed watching the workshop and thought that everyone performed well but if I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Romy as I thought that her performance as Leah was excellent. What I liked about it was the way she really got into the flow of the speech, it sounded conversational and not at all scripted.
